Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 September 2026. VineCheck is in beta; this policy will change as the platform does.
Who we are
VineCheck is a church health survey platform operated from Australia. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Two kinds of people use VineCheck
The information we hold differs depending on which you are.
- Church leaders who create an account and run surveys.
- Church members who are invited to answer a survey.
Church leaders
When you sign in with Google we receive and store your name, email address and Google account identifier. We also store your church's name and the settings and questions you configure. We use this only to operate your account and to contact you about the service.
Church members
Your church uploads a list of recipients — typically names and email addresses — so VineCheck can send each person a unique survey link. We store that list on your church's behalf. We store your answers, the times your invitation was sent, opened, started and completed, and a one-time token that ensures one response per invitation.
What "anonymous" currently means, precisely
Your individual answers are not shown to your church's leaders. Leaders see aggregated scores and group-level charts, not a row with your name against your answers. That is the anonymity the product is designed to give you.
It is not the same as your answers being unlinkable. Your invitation record and your response are associated in our database so that the system can resume a part-finished survey and prevent duplicate submissions. That association means a person with direct database access could in principle connect a response to a recipient. We are working to sever that link. We would rather tell you this plainly than overstate what the system does.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information, ever.
- We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use survey answers to train machine learning models.
- We do not show individual free-text answers or individual scores to church leaders.
Who holds your data
Your church controls its own survey data and can export it to CSV at any time. VineCheck holds it as the operator of the platform. Data is stored on servers provided by our hosting provider and is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We use Google for sign-in and an email provider to deliver survey invitations.
How long we keep it
We keep survey data for as long as your church maintains an account. If your church closes its account, we delete its surveys, recipients and responses. You can ask us to delete data sooner.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. If you are a church member, your church is the first point of contact, since it controls the recipient list. You can also contact us directly.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember where you are up to in a survey. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Children
VineCheck is intended for adults. Churches should not use it to survey children without the consent of a parent or guardian and without following their own child safety policy.
Changes
We will update this page when the platform changes. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
